After having had the pleasure of investing a passion-filled year into NSAC (National Student Advertising Competition) with Chapman Public Relations & Advertising senior Olivia Barker, I celebrate her nomination for the Cecil Award in Entertainment Marketing, the winner of which will be announced tonight.

Tomorrow night she graduates from Chapman.

These are, to be sure, the most bittersweet of times.

It’s from where I derive my job satisfaction.

Working with students.

Sadly, it’s not always mutual.

And thus I have stress.

Stress resulting from disappointing my students.

Stress resulting from the changes I will implement to do better by them.

Regardless, I do as I am instructed and that is simple:

God sent them to my classroom and told me to love them and so I do, every last one of them.

That is why with gratitude I know and can say that my job is a labor of love.

Congratulations to the class of 2013.

I will miss you.

As for the rest of you?

On Thursday, April 25, the eight schools representing District 15 of the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition gather at Cal State Fullerton for the ten-hour sudden death playoff round that sends only one school to the national championship in Phoenix a month later. Yesterday the members of Chapman University’s Circle Advertising continued their planning.
